Not much to report. The weather is not good but hey, it's winter. The roof underlayment and the plastic are holding up well. Thankfully, there hasn't been excessive wind. Just snow!

Time to show some updates, it's been awhile so thank you for your patience. We've finished putting the plywood up on the roof and got that covered with the Titanium synthetic underlayment. This means no more tarping over the roof which is a very good thing! Gable ends are framed and ready to be covered after this wave of rainy weather. We stapled plastic up on the walls to keep them dry until the windows get cut out for the real house wrap. We also spray foamed the ridge top above the beam and under the plywood. The end cedar rafters still need to be cut and placed to make it "steel roof" ready. There are a handful of "small stuff" to get to before installing the windows and siding but it's really getting close... here are some pics...
Once again, a big thanks goes out to Billy. That's him on the right peaking over the roof top and I'm on the left. (Four pics up)

With the weekend off work I was hoping to get the roof covered but the rain held things up. We managed to get some plywood up in drizzly weather. The covers went on when the clouds turned dark and effectively ended the work. Next dry weather due Wednesday so the tarps stay on. Thanks go out to Billy once again who stayed most of the day Saturday. Also my neighbor Glenn lent me his little giant ladder and a plank that made a great work platform. Also, Beth S. P. showed up at just the right time to hold the ladder. Thanks Beth! Here's a few pics...

It's been a busy four days and almost got to where I wanted. Very happy with the results! Thanks go out to Billy, Rick, Ray and neighbor Mike. The 4x6 beam was heavy and it went up without a hitch with the great help. Thanks guys! Billy stayed and George K came and shored up all the connections between rafters and walls. Marianne brought lunch and my parents dropped off pizza for dinner. Thanks so much! Can't forget the caramel creams from George and June to keep us goin.

Billy stayed late and helped cover it for the coming rain. It's slowly looking more like a house! Here are some pics...

Here's the latest. My windows arrived. Sheathing over the wheel wells are in place thanks to help from Patty and Janet (my sisters) and a home made scribe (an old compass, electrical tape and some ripped oak flooring). Loft flooring is in which is oak flooring placed upside down for a nice "ceiling". Almost time for the roof if it stops snowing.

The hurricane Sandy wall frames go up...
Earlier we survived an hour long wind storm and now getting ready for steady rain this evening. Hope to get the roof up this week and the weather is supposed to be good. Windows should arrive Wednesday...Take care til next time!

Billy helped me drill lots of holes...

...and doubled the floor insulation. Why? Because I had the space.
The double deck was very time consuming. There should'nt be any cold toes in there.

Hi friends. It's been a tediously busy, and tiring two weeks of vacation. After each day there was no energy to post pics of the build. The first week it rained non-stop so the goal of roof up and all dried in fell a bit short. Special thanks go out my neighbors; Tom, George, Kerri and Ray. My friend Billy who has a knack for showing up at the right moments. My parents who delivered an occassional meal when there was no time to stop. My sister Patty for placing the decking and general consulting. My bro in law Rick for making a much needed lumber run. Jess and Cassie from work to make sure my coffee maker was workin right and also got there hands dirty a bit. Also,, Steve from Tumbleweeds who sent me the updated plans for the Fencl. So here here's what you missed so far as the wind is picking up and rain on the way...

My deck boards are lower than usual.

Here's an update in case you're wondering what's up with my Fencl build. It's been delayed slightly. We've been preparing to sell my parent's home and painting has taken up most of my free time. It's almost ready to be listed then I can start my little house. Hopefully I can dry it in before the first snow - but we shall see...

Good news! Yesterday Todd from Lowe's made a small delivery.

The trusses aren't mine and the special order siding didn't make this trip. It's an exciting time and I can't stress enough that to get to this point did not happen over night. Next step is to pick up skrews, hurricane ties, and prepare the trailer deck. Oh and see what is available for vacation time.
