A Door in the Making

Here's a sneak peek at my door. Shown here ready for glue and clamps. I can't wait to see it in person! Thanks go out to my sister Patty who took on this project. More details later

Day 7

I got around one window, 3 pieces and I'm burnt out. It wasn't a decision, I just have to stop. Taking the day off tomorrow then back to work for two weeks before my next vacation starts. Over all it was a good week and the weather couldn't have been better. When I get a new piece up here and there I'll let you know.

Here's a story about little houses

This picture seems so strange and so long ago. So happy to get to each next phase then "will it ever get finished?" pops into my head... The answer is always YES!

Day 6

Another productive day. Had straight cuts only so I managed to get 15 pieces, the most yet for me so far. Two more days, I'm tired but I'll be pushing it until I go back to work.

Day 5

It was a pretty good day. I set out 10 pieces this morning determined to get them on the house. Considering I had to work around the wheel well it was a good feeling to get 12 pieces! Hope it carries over to a productive day tomorrow...

Day 4

Realistically it doesn't look like the siding will be finished by the end of my vacation week. Thought I'd get the other side prepped and started and try to get to the bottom of the windows since it requires time consuming cuts. I figure I can add above that as I get time in short spurts. Back for more tomorrow, hope it will look like some progress was made unlike today...

Day 3

I was hoping to get more pieces than this but a couple of bad cuts and working around the windows took time.  Just have to keep working 'til it's finished.

Day 2

This may not look like much but it kicked my but today. I'm worried I won't be able to finish the siding during this vacation week but I'll keep going one piece at a time. I've got to get to the top on this side tomorrow to have a chance of finishing on Sunday. The weather has to keep holding out too

Day 1 of Vacation

So far so good. Happy with what got done today. Last year I had two weeks of vacation to start my build at the end of October (2012). The first week it rained non-stop. This year the weather is looking good all week so hoping to get a lot done. Here are the pics...

Odds and ends

Here's the latest, I'll start with some roofing news. The two end panels were placed the other day with no problem. The roof cap was ready. Unfortunately my Z piece to hold the cap was the wrong size...uggh! Another setback but I'm not going to worry about it.

My roofer had some concerns about moisture getting in where I screwed in the trim pieces so today I sealed those areas the best I could. I'm thinking it should be in good shape now.

The next wall got a good head start on siding which was a bonus today. Next week starts my vacation so I'm planning on hitting it hard...

One down, three to go

I finally had a full day to work on siding. Made a mistake by stopping to watch the Steeler game. Also took  in a nice pulled pork BBQ in the neighborhood, thanks Kerri and Ray it was awesome!

I did finish the hitch end in the dark. I may take the piece above the window down and replace it with something else, I don't know what yet but it won't happen until I'm done with the other sides.

Recovering

This was a tough week, I'm still coughing but feeling better and regaining energy. The two little pieces put up today were more to motivate me to resume my "one at a time" mantra than anything else.
